Jadavpur University (Bengali: যাদবপুর বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) or JU is a public state university located in Kolkata, West Bengal. It has two campuses: the main campus at Jadavpur and the new campus at Salt Lake, approximately 12.6 kilometres (7.8 mi) and 8.8 kilometres (5.5 mi) from the city center respectively. A third campus is due to open at the site of the erstwhile National Instruments (CSIR India), opposite the main campus along the Raja S.C. Mullick Road.

The National Council of Education, Bengal, was established in 1906 in the wake of the nationalist movement. It was led by intellectuals, statesmen and the middle-class intelligentsia, and its aim was to cultivate the best of global learning and technology in order to build a self-reliant industrial base for India. Admission to all the Postgraduate courses at Jadavpur University is done through entrance test organized by individual departments. For Postgraduate courses offered by Faculty Council of Engineering and Technology, GATE score is mandatory. For those who have not taken GATE will have to appear in the entrance test organized by the department.

At Undergraduate level, admission to courses offered by Faculty Council of Engineering and Technology is done on the basis of WEBJEE scores followed by counselling. Students opting to pursue any Undergraduate level course from Faculty Council of Arts have to appear in the entrance test organized by the faculty.

For admission to courses offered by Faculty Council of Science merit in previous qualifying exam is the sole criterion.

Once the Student has filled the form and submitted it an application number will be generated. This application number will be required for logging on to the website in future activities.

The duly filled application form needs to be submitted at the following address along with a demand draft of Rs 100 drawn in favour of Registrar, Jadavpur University payable at Kolkata.

The fee can also be paid through bank challan to be submitted at the nearest branch of State Bank of India.
