The University of Kalyani was established in 1960 with a campus area of over 400 acres in Kalyani town. It caters mostly to the students of rural and backward areas. The University is presently offering twenty-three postgraduate programmes under four faculties. The University is providing academic guidance and leadership to 36 affiliated degree colleges located in the districts of Nadia, Murshidabad, and parts of N. 24 Parganas. The standards of teaching in the affiliated colleges are monitored by a council for undergraduate studies, planning board and a nominated college development council (CDC) through a process of academic audit. The Kalyani University has introduced a wide range of curricular options to train the students in different fields of specialization through teaching, research, and extension. The extension and outreach activities, as well as innovative programmes of the Adult and Continuing Education Centre, INSPARC and the technical back-up unit of the university. In its campus planning, almost all the departments are housed in separate buildings, keeping sufficient scope for their extensions in the lush green campus of around 400 acres. The Kalyani University is a member of Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), Global University Network for Innovation (GUNI).

The University of Kalyani Admit cards 2019 Examinations for Undergraduate/ Postgraduate courses will begin shortly at the examination centers allotted by the University of Kalyani. University of Kalyani Admission 2019

The admission process for the University of Kalyani differs for different courses. For admission to some of the courses, the university conducts separate entrance tests, medical tests, fitness tests, interviews and group discussion rounds in order to evaluate the courses, whereas, for some courses, admission is purely based on the merit of the students. 

At UG level, University of Kalyani offers B.Tech in two specializations, B.Ed, B.P.Ed and Integrated M.Sc.

• For B.Tech., admission will be through entrance and counseling by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WB-JEE)
• For B.P.Ed, students need to appear in the entrance test, that consists of Games and Motor fitness test
• There will be no entrance test for admission to the 5-Year Integrated M.Sc. Course in Statistics. Admission is on the basis of marks obtained in the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination

The University of Kalyani offers a wide range of PG level courses under various specialization subjects. The university provides M.A. degree under 12 different specializations, M.Sc. under 15 different specializations and M.Tech. under two specializations.

• The Entrance Test for various Post-graduate courses in Science, Arts & Commerce, MRDM, M.Ed., M.Tech. in Environmental Management will consist of only a written test
• For M. Tech. in Communication Engineering admission will be through Entrance Test and Interview
• Admission to M.Tech.in Computer Science and Engineering course will be done through written test and interview organized by the department. Preference will be given to the GATE -qualified students
• For MCA, students will be admitted through state level examination (JECA) organized by Joint Entrance Board, West Bengal
• For MBA, admission of students will be through CMAT/MAT/CAT/JEMAT Examination followed by Personal Interview and Group Discussion. students appearing interview should bring valid CMAT/MAT/CAT/JEMAT Score Card along with their original credentials
• For admission to the Department of Visual Arts, selection will be on the basis of merit of the qualifying exam including the performance of the written and interview tests.
• Admission to the Department of Microbiology, Molecular Biology, and Biotechnology is done by an entrance examination organized by the university
• For MFA, admission will be through entrance test and interview
