Presidency University has a unique place in history. It was one of the first institutes of Western-type higher education in Asia. In 1817, a group of enlightened Indians and Englishmen set up the Hindoo College. This was taken over by the British Government in 1855 as the College of the Bengal Presidency, and placed in 1857 under the newly founded Calcutta University. Over the next hundred years and more, Presidency College was Bengal’s pre-eminent center of higher learning. Although a Constituent College of Calcutta University, it preserved a tradition of research matched by few universities in India. This gave a unique dimension to its undergraduate teaching. Admissions to the Presidency University are organized through common entrance examinations organized separately for Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses by WBJEE. For Undergraduate courses (B.A. / B.Sc. (Hons.)), the entrance exam organized is PUBDET whereas, in a case of Postgraduate courses (M.A. / M.Sc.), it is PUMDET. Shortlisted students are then called for counseling by the university.

Online Exam Form of Presidency University

Application for both Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses can be submitted online by logging on to the official website of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board. The application fee is INR 500 plus bank service charges for both, PUBDET and PUMDET examination.

Steps of Apply for PUBCET/ PUMCET :-

1. Visit the official website of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board to fill up the online application form
2. For Undergraduate courses, you can choose maximum two subjects. For Postgraduate courses, you will need to choose the subject according to your honors/major subject in B.A. /B.Sc.
3. Provide the required details. Please be careful as the details once submitted cannot be changed later.
4. Upload the required documents and a recent photograph.
5. After the required details and documents have been provided, submit the form. You will be redirected to the payment page for the application fee.
6. You can choose to pay online using credit/debit cards and net banking or offline.
7. For offline payments, an e-challan will be generated which can be used to make payment at any branch of Allahabad Bank
8. Admit cards will be downloadable in nature and should be printed out. You will need to carry the hard copy of the printed admit card in proper condition and a photograph.
9. In case a particular examination center lacks the required amount of Students, the zone might get canceled and new allotments will be given for applicants falling under those zones.
