In May 1951 Visva-Bharati was declared to be a central university and an institution of national importance by an act of Parliament. Visva-Bharati has the President of India as the Paridarsaka (Visitor) and the Governor of West Bengal as the Pradhana (Rector). The President of India appoints the Acharya (Chancellor) and the Upacharya (Vice-chancellor) of the University.

VBU Exam Admit Card / Hall Ticket Download

Visva Bharati University is going to release the Annual Exam Undergraduate and Postgraduate 1st, 2nd, 3rd Year Admit Card 2019. Those applicants who are going to appear in the exam may download admit card via the Official Website Portal. Candidates should do full preparation before attending the exam. The University will conduct the Annual Exam in the month of March-April 2019. Students will be able to download the Hall Ticket at the official website. Visva Bharati University Admission 2019

The admission process for all the Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses generally starts from mid-April and continues until the end of May. Admission for most of the courses is done based on the merit of the Candidates. 

Candidates can apply for more than one subject:

• For General & OBC candidates Rs. 500/- + Rs. 200/- (For each additional subject)
• For SC, ST & PWD candidates Rs. 150/- + Rs. 75/- (For each additional subject)

The Viswa Bharati University offers 8 Undergraduate courses under a variety of specializations for students who have cleared their 10+2 examination. All the BA courses are offered under honors subjects except for one pass course i.e. Vocational Functional Hindi. The University also offers BA in foreign languages viz. Tibetan, Chinese, Persian, and Japanese. Such courses are for a period of 4 years including 1-year preparatory course. The rest of the BA courses are for a period of 3 years. The University also offers B.Fine Arts course of 5 years including 2 preparatory years. The admission to these Undergraduate courses is based on the merit of the student considering their 10+2 examination results.

The Visva Bharati University offers a variety of courses for the graduates willing to pursue higher education in their respective fields. The University offers the M.A. course under 17 different specializations, all for a duration of 2 years. It also offers M.Sc. under 11 specializations for a duration of 2 years except for M.Sc in Integrated Science which has a period of 5 years. The student in order to join any Postgraduate course must have attained a bachelor’s degree in the respective field. The minimum percentage requirement varies from course to course.
